THE KING OF 40K TOURNAMENT - 19th April 2016

Hello all! Just wanted to post up some ground rules for the upcoming King of 40K tournament that will be on the 19th of April.

Choosing your army:
- Points limit of 500pts
- Limit of only 1 army book per army
- When choosing your army, unless using a formation, use the Allied Detachment FoC in the 40k Rulebook (Page 122).
- Your army cannot be Unbound
- No model with more than 3 Wounds
- No model with a better save than a 3+
- No psykers with a mastery level higher than 2
- Tanks cannot have a combined armour total higher than 33
- Formations are allowed, however they must apply to the rules above

The missions to be played will be selected randomly from the Maelstrom of War missions table. Please note that when drawing cards/rolling D66 to determine each players random objectives, if the result is unachievable you may re-draw/re-roll the result. You can keep doing this until each player has 3 achievable goals. This is only at the start of the game before the 1st turn. After that you are stuck with what you get!

These are not set in stone at the time of writing, so if anyone has any recommendations/reservations feel free to say. I will post this up in the forum as well. Also if I could get a show of metaphorical hands for who wishes to participate so I can get a idea of numbers that would be grand.

Oh and before I forget, wanted to run it by a committee member but not sure the best way to go about it, how many tables will we be able to book off upstairs for this event?

Cheers!

Lyle

Firstly, and by far the most important thing, thank you for organising and offering to run.

Thinking about turning up but one question - I assume you mean 1 faction by one army book? So the campaign book formations (like Raven Guard, White Scars, Daemons, etc) are all fine to be used with the respective codex?

WRT formations - are you looking for bound armies constructed of formations/a force organisation chart or a single formation? just checking because there's implications either way. Is it basically - a bound army, adhereing to the extra rules (3+ max, 33 armour, etc) and from a single faction or a bound army consisting of a single formation/FoC, adhereing to the extra rules (3+ max, 33 armour, etc) and from a single faction? Sorry if this seems nitpicky, just want to get my keen going in the right direction and pick an army I can get excited about.

Cheers

- If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid
- Never forget that your weapon was made by the lowest bidder
- Field experience is something you don't get until just after you need it

Hello everyone! I know it's late on and that I should of posted here sooner (apologies, things have been a bit mad for me lately). Here are the finalised rules for the King of 40K tournament that will be on the 19th of April at the club.

Choosing your force:
- Points limit of 500pts
- Limit of only 1 army book per army
- You must include at least 1 troops choice in your list
- No model with more than 3 Wounds
- No model with a better save than a 3+
- No psykers with a mastery level higher than 2
- Vehicles cannot have a combined armour total higher than 33. This also applies to fortifications.
- No weapons with the strength D characteristic may be taken
- No formations
- No summoning psychic powers may be used

The mission being played each game is Eternal War: Crusade. Note however that only one objective marker is deployed per game and is placed on the centre line of the board

The aim is for everyone to get at least 3 games done in the evening, and the winner is the player with the most victories!

Look forward to seeing you there!

Lyle

Ok guys, the event is now CLOSED for applying to join. Thought I'd put it down here to avoid any confusion.

Look forward to seeing you all there!

You may need to contact cliff since apparently you told him he could just turn up with an army on the day, or did you count him already?

To be honest i was not even aware application was required, given the lack of activity on this thread i assumed it was a 'just turn up and play' sort of event

It's all been sort of organised through a mix of Facebook and this forum, with clearly a mixture of success. As long as you bring something that fits the comp he's put in place I'm sure it'll be fine.

Lessons learned for next time I suppose.
